INTESTINAL OBSTRUCTION DUE TO TAPE WORM - Taenia saginata - Case Report

Abstract:

Infection with tape worm is a major problem in many parts of the World. Majority of the patients are asymptomatic. Infection of Taenia saginata due to ingestion of under cooked beef meat containing cysticercus. Scolex released after digestion of cysticercus, which attaches to intestinal mucosa and starts budding off segments.We have received Taenia saginata segment to our Laboratory from the Department of Surgery and the segment was obtained during per rectal examination of patient with intestinal obstruction.
