Abstract:
Sodium is the primary determinant of extracellular fluid osmolality and glucose is the primary energy substrate of the brain. Disturbance in any one of it or both can produce serious complications. So early recognition of the disturbance and prompt treatment is very essential. (1, 5). We present a case of diabetes with hypertension presented with septicemia, developed hypoglycemia and hyponatremia during the course of illness. He was treated with proper antibiotics and difficult fluid resuscitation, so as to avoid complications and consequences of electrolyte imbalance.
