      <Abstract>Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a common metabolic disorder affecting multiple organ systems. Neurological complications are very frequent in diabetic patients. Impairment of conduction velocity in peripheral nerves occurs early in diabetes. Aim and objectives: This study was designed to study the visual reaction time ( VRT) , auditory reaction time ( ART) and nerve conduction velocity (NCV) in Type1 and Type2 DM patients. Materials and Methods:In the present study, 30 male, Type 1 DM patients;30 male, Type2 DM patients and 30 male ,healthy ( control ) subjects between age group 30-40 years were included. The ART and VRT of right hand, left hand, right foot and left foot were recorded with an instrument called chronoscope. NCV was determined in the ulnar nerve bilaterally in all the groups. Results: Statistically significant difference was observed in visual and ART in the healthy and Type 1 DM and Type2 DM subjects. The NCV showed a decrease with effects in Type1 diabetes being more pronounced.</Abstract>
